TODAY'S INTENTION

⚖️ EQUILIBRIUM - accepting the contrast and celebrating periods of balance

Today, let's accept the inevitable contrast and celebrate periods of balance.

EQUILIBRIUM:

1: a state of intellectual or emotional balance   aPOISE “trying to recover his equilibrium” ba state of adjustment between opposing or divergent influences or elements

2a state of balance between opposing forces or actions that is either static (as in a body acted on by forces whose resultant is zero) or dynamic (as in a reversible chemical reaction when the rates of reaction in both directions are equal)

3BALANCE

Our whole system longs to maintain its equilibrium.  We are noticing the natural world continuously moving towards balance and we experience it thoroughly in Autumn.   Darkness and light, birth and death, giving and receiving are the push and pull of this season.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION

Read today's affirmation out loud with purpose and intent:

“I accept the contrast and celebrate periods of balance.
My creative process is in equilibrium.

Equilibrium is not something we want to “lose”.

Anyone that has ever stepped off a boat onto the dock and felt “seasick” on land understands equilibrium on a physical level (any type of vertigo could feel the same).

That same “seasick” feeling can happen when we lose our creative equilibrium. When we begin to feel as if we are “not creative” or “not good enough” our entire being feels it.  On a deep level, we understand that everything we encounter can be addressed creatively, with intention, or with our past and present conditioning.  A creative, intentional approach can expand our self-awareness, make our relationships deeper and more meaningful and give our emotions, thoughts, and beliefs a healing outlet.

I enjoy exploring all that Autumn has to show us and applying its lessons to my creative practice.  “Letting go” of perfectionism, insecurities, and critical thoughts.  Pausing to center myself, bring myself into the moment, break the momentum of conditioned reactions,  preserving my creative time and space and the healing benefits I receive daily.  Honoring the “harvest” that is every page of my journal.

When you engage, daily, with a creative process your being returns to balance.

1. Draw a line down the center of your page.

2. On one side, write for at least three minutes about what it feels like when you lose your equilibrium (Creatively, Emotionally, and Spiritually).

3. On the other side, write for three minutes on what it feels like to be “in balance” in these areas as well.

4. Create a page, over your writing, that symbolizes BALANCE.

“As I notice what shows up when I ebb and flow in and out of balance,

I remain grateful for ____________________ “

COMMUNITY CONVERSATOIN

Balance is very important to my growth on all levels.

Maintaining that fine centerline is not always possible but accepting that the heaviness will change, the swinging scales will balance again and there is much learning in this process if I observe with curiosity.

Please share your observations and creative musings about your equilibrium in the comments below or the Art Room Activity Feed.
